NORTH HARMONY – A Brocton man was transported to UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie, Pa. early Friday morning after his vehicle rolled over, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Selig, 46, was reportedly driving a heavy crane truck southbound on Route 394 in North Harmony in a “reckless manner,” barreling into turns. At one point, failing to negotiate a turn, he traveled off the road and struck a utility pole. The collision caused his truck to roll onto its side.
The pole was destroyed, sending live electrical wires into the roadway. It was a closed for a short time while the wires and crane truck were safely removed.
Selig, who had been ejected from the vehicle, was treated on the scene by emergency crews from the Lakewood and Ashville fire departments. Then he was airlifted to the hospital via a Starflight helicopter.
He was in stable condition Friday afternoon. Charges are pending.
