HOCKEY: Registration is open for the Buffalo Sabres Street HockeyFest that will take place on Aug. 21 on the surface parking lots between Mississippi and Columbia streets (across from Lagerhaus 95 restaurant, one block east of the arena), starting at 9 a.m. The tournament is open to boys and girls 17-and-under at a cost of $150 per team. Each team will consist of up to five players and will be guaranteed at least three games in the all-day, rain-or-shine event. Every player will receive a T-shirt and hat. Divisions for boys are Microns 6U, Mites 8U, Squirts 10U, Pee Wee 12U, Bantam 14U, Midget 16U and Midget 17U. For girls

17U, 15U, 13U, 11U and 8U. Registration closes Aug. 8 or when registration is full. Games will be played 3-on-3 plus a goaltender and one optional substitute. Participants are responsible for bringing their own equipment, including sneakers, hockey sticks and gloves. Goaltender equipment is mandatory. Additional protective gear is optional, but recommended. Registration deadline is July 17, cost is $120 for Cheektowaga residents and $145 for non-residents. Teams can be coed and divisions are mites, squirts, peewees, bantams, midgets and adults. FOOTBALL: Registration for the Buffalo Vets Little League are now open to all players and cheerleaders ages 6-13 years-old. Cost is $90 and includes helmet, shoulder pads and uniform.
