Dennis DiPaolo inducted into Prep Talk Hall of Fame

Dennis DiPaolo was inducted into the Prep Talk Hall of Fame Wednesday night during the 2016 Prep Talk Awards at the Hyatt Regency.

DiPaolo has continued the legacy of his father, Ilio, a famed wrestler and restaurateur who was a benefactor of high school sports and believed in the values of family, education, athletics and community. In introducing DiPaolo, Buffalo News Deputy Sports Editor Keith McShea praised him for his leadership in giving back to all high school sports.

"I'm very honored by this," DiPaolo said, holding his plaque. "I just wish it didn't say 'Dennis DiPaolo.' It should say 'Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Committee,' because that's the people who make it happen. We have about 25, 30 people on it who really make this whole thing happen."

DiPaolo also helps run the Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Fund and Awards Dinner, which he said is close to giving out $1 million to the community.

"We believe in giving, supporting the future leaders of tomorrow, these athletes, and also the less fortunate," he said.
