Driving through crash scene blocked by cops gets woman arrested

A 34-year-old Buffalo woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after she drove through a crash scene in Orchard Park that was blocked off by police and fire investigators.

Jennifer Marcussen drove her car around a “blocker” vehicle, cones and fire police Saturday night on Southwestern Boulevard at Michael Road, where Orchard Park police and fire officials were probing an earlier crash that had caused a serious injury. Southwestern was closed to all traffic between Michael and Orchard Park roads.

Marcussen ignored the flags and shouts of police and began to drive through the site until she was stopped by police. However, she refused to put her vehicle into “park,” turn it off or leave the car. She wouldn’t unlock or open her door until police threatened to break her window, and she had to be forcibly removed.

She failed field sobriety tests, and a West Seneca police “drug-recognition” expert helped with additional testing before she was taken to the Mercy Ambulatory Care Center for a blood test.

Besides the driving offense, Marcussen was also charged with failure to obey a police officer and obstructing governmental administration. She is due in Orchard Park Town Court on June 7.
