Driver charged with DWI after crashing into smoke shop

BASOM – A Media woman was allegedly driving drunk Sunday morning when her vehicle crashed into the Two Eagle Smoke Shop, causing extensive damage and minor injury to an employee, authorities said.

Mariah L. Mosher, 20, was charged with driving while intoxicated and additional charges, State Police said in a news release.

When Troopers arrived, Mosher’s vehicle was completely inside the shop at 852 Bloomingdale Road, police said. She failed to stop at a stop sign and failed to negotiate a curve, coming to rest inside the building, police said.

Mosher was unable to perform the standard field sobriety tests and showed signs of intoxication, police said.

She was taken to United Memorial Medical Center as a precaution, where blood was drawn. The hospital released her to Troopers and she was taken to Troop A Headquarters in Batavia for processing.

Mosher was also issued traffic tickets for failure to yield the right of way, failure to stop at a stop sign, possession of an open alcoholic container and failure to use a designated lane.

She is scheduled to appear June 20 in Town of Alabama Court.
