Norma Jane Martin, an interior decorator and longtime volunteer, died Thursday in Beechwood Homes, Amherst, after a long illness. She was 90.
Born in North Tonawanda, the former Norma Jane Stahl graduated from North Tonawanda High School and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.
She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and worked as a dietitian. She later established her own interior decorating business and, for several years, also worked as a real estate agent.
A resident of Williamsville since 1969, Mrs. Martin joined the women’s board of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in the early 1980s and served as the board’s president in 1995-96. She remained active at the hospital for about 30 years, particularly in the gift shop.
In addition to volunteering and decorating, Mrs. Martin enjoyed reading, gardening, needlework, flower arranging, sketching and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Martin Davis of Williamsville; a sister, Lois Kaiser of Grand Island; and a granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, William L., and a son, Jeffrey.
