The Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York has released ratings for candidates for State Supreme Court and Buffalo City Court.
Lynn Wessel Keane and Mary L. Slisz are seeking the State Supreme Court seat now held by Joseph R. Glownia.. Glownia, who was elected in 2014, moves to senior status this year because of his age. City Court Judge Craig D. Hannah is running for re-election.
Wessel Keane, who is town judge in Orchard Park, received an overall rating of “highly qualified” and was deemed “very good” on temperament, reasoning ability and women’s issues and “good” on experience.
Attorney Mary L. Slisz, who is running again after failing to reach the state court in the 2014 election, was rated “qualified” and given “good” ratings for each of the four specific areas of interest to the Women’s Bar.
Hannah received an overall “outstanding” rating and was rated “excellent” in every area except legal reasoning ability, for which he received a rating of “very good.”
Each candidate was interviewed and the bar’s membership was surveyed to calculate the ratings.
