LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls woman who took part in an Oct. 7 apartment burglary on Fourth Street in that city pleaded guilty Wednesday.
Melody A. Frain, 33, formerly of Fourth Street, has been in jail awaiting action in the case for six months. The mother of three admitted to third-degree burglary, and Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon admitted her to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.
Frain, a repeat felon because of a 2010 conviction for fourth-degree grand larceny, risks up to seven years in state prison if she doesn’t beat her drug problems. She said she’s been in rehabilitation “six or seven times,” and the longest she was clean was three years.
Charges remain pending in the burglary against William L. Putman III, 30, of Main Street, Niagara Falls.
