The Maksym’s Giving Tree Foundation, named in memory of 3-year-old Maksym Sugorovskiy, who died when he was struck by a car on the Ring Road in Delaware Park a year ago, will hold its first public event, the planting of a flower garden, from 3 to 5 p.m. May 28 at Silo City, off Ohio Street.
Impatiens and other flowers will be planted in a custom-made garden provided by Rigidized Metals. A ceremony will dedicate the area as a “Kindness Garden” in honor of Maksym. The public is welcome to attend and help plant flowers. Refreshments will be served.
Maksym’s tragic death, by a car that veered off the Scajaquada Expressway, has led to safety measures including a 30 mph speed limit on the Scajaquada and barriers between the road and the park.
