Canisius: Junior hockey player Shane Conacher and junior lacrosse player Jeff Edwards have been honored on the CoSIDA Academic All-District I At-Large Team. They are eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in early June. Conacher is one of 12 Division I hockey student-athletes nationwide to collect the district honor. Navy: Freshman Carlee Conway (Sacred Heart) was named most improved player at the women’s tennis team’s year-end banquet. Conway was 18-6 in overall singles play including a Navy record 13 straight victories from Oct. 9 to March 6. She won 10 of 13 singles in dual matches and was 14-13 overall in doubles play. Navy went 20-10 and reached the Patriot League championship finals. Conway graduated from Sacred Heart in 2014 where she had a 56-0 record and was 2013 Buffalo Muny Women’s Open champion.

SUNYAC Softball: Buffalo State senior infielder Stephanie Novo (Depew) and senior pitch Lexi Haley have been selected first-team all-conference. Making the second team were Buffalo State junior outfielder Laura Crooks (Niagara Wheatfield) and Brockport freshman outfielder Amanda Yuhas (Eden). Nova is a three-time first-team pick. She batted .367 this season with 14 doubles, two triples, five homers and 35 RBIs while fashioning a .966 fielding percentage at second base. Haley appeared in a school-record 33 games, throwing 185 innings. She was 17-11 with a 3.20 ERA and 94 strikeouts. She also batted .344.

UB: Junior lead-off hitter Savanna Norcio was named first-team all-Mid-American Conference in softball while and Katie Weimer was selected to the all-freshman team. Norcio batted .382 – fourth-highest in school history – with 17 doubles, five homers and 26 RBIs. She has a .347 career batting average. Weimer (Orchard Park) batted .329, broke a 15-year-old school record with 49 RBIs and hit 12 homers (second-most single-season). She also led the team in triples, total bases and slugging percentage.
