OLEAN – An Allegany County man with a suspended driver’s license and a 6-year-old in his vehicle was charged Saturday with drunken driving after a hit-and-run accident.
State Police charged Ryan D. McDonald, 27, of Cuba after he was located by troopers on County Route 50 in Ischua in Cattaraugus County.
The crash happened in Olean and authorities put out a description of the vehicle being sought. State Police said McDonald admitted driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. He registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.12 percent, greater than the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Because he had a passenger in the vehicle younger than 16, McDonald was charged with violating Leandra’s Law, a felony driving while intoxicated count.
McDonald was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 property. He is scheduled to appear in Ischua Town Court on Tuesday.
No information was available about potential charges related to the hit-and-run accident.
