LOCKPORT – The Kenan Center Gallery, 433 Locust St., Lockport, will open an exhibit of art borrowed from corporate and private collections Sunday.
“Metacorporate: Art From Industry” will open with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The exhibit will continue through June 26.
The exhibit will feature more than 60 pieces, including 14 originally owned by the Carborundum Co. and now in the collection of the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara Falls; and additional works from the Niagara County Historical Society, the New York Power Authority, the YWCA of Niagara, and Eastern Niagara Hospital.
Eleven of the pieces were produced by Niagara Falls artist Polly King.Other artists represented include former Lockportians Joseph Whalen, William Storrs and Olivia McConnell, contemporary watercolor artist Kathleen Giles and photographer Paul Pasquarello.
The exhibit was inspired by “Art from Industry IV,” an exhibit held at the Kenan Center in 1969 that featured 36 works from such notable Buffalo corporations as American Standard, the Kittinger Co., Hooker Chemical and Marine Midland Bank.
