Hinsdale man charged in probe of car break-ins

HINSDALE – A Hinsdale man was arrested early Saturday as Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police continued their probe of a rash of vehicle break-ins in the Hinsdale area during the past week.

Daniel T. Wilson, 39, of Route 16, was seen walking down that road about 6:50 a.m. Saturday, while carrying what deputies said was stolen property.

Wilson was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and petit larceny. He was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb said anyone who has noticed property missing from a vehicle should call the Sheriff’s Office at 938-9191. Also, some property has been recovered that deputies would like to return to its owners.
