Two freed from T-boned vehicle after Tonawanda crash

Volunteer firefighters from three companies extricated two people injured in a two-vehicle T-bone crash in the Town of Tonawanda late Tuesday afternoon, town police confirmed Wednesday.

The crash occurred at about 5:20 p.m., when a car heading north on River Road smashed into a car turning left from Sheridan Drive onto southbound River Road, Capt. Joseph F. Carosi reported.

Firefighters from Sheridan Park, Kenmore and Kenilworth pulled two people from the T-boned vehicle.

Both were taken to Erie County Medical Center with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was identified as Maxamillion Hernandez, 20, of Buffalo. While no charges have been filed, a preliminary investigation suggests that the northbound vehicle may have run a red light, police said.

Authorities also are checking a dashboard camera on a witness’s vehicle as they continue their investigation.
