Centenary College of Louisiana appointed Christopher L. Holoman, provost at Hilbert College in Hamburg, as its 31st president. He will assume leadership of the 191-year-old Shreveport institution in July. Holoman has been at Hilbert College since 1999.

RudeBoyz Artworks owner Nicola Bryant-Ballard was honored as a “Women in Leadership” by the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of New York State Women. Bryant-Ballard is working with PUSH Buffalo to promote an art festival for the nearby community.

The McGuire Group’s five local rehabilitation facilities were presented with the excellence in clinical instruction award during the University at Buffalo’s 10th Annual White Coat Ceremony. The award recognizes clinicians and or clinical facilities that have made a substantial contribution to the clinical education of the university’s physical therapy students. The McGuire Group’s facilities include: Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, Garden Gate Health Care Facility in Cheektowaga, Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville, Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda and Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca.

Nine Buffalo-area groups will receive a total of $165,000 from First Niagara Financial Group: Be A Friend Program Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northtowns, Buffalo Prep, Compeer of Greater Buffalo, Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection, Junior Achievement of Western New York, Seneca Street Community Development Corp., Youth Mentoring Service of Niagara County. The grants were made as part of First Niagara’s “Mentoring Matters” program. The bank has provided more than $8.33 million toward mentoring programs over the past nine years.
