Lockport man gets misdemeanor deal in robbery

LOCKPORT – Thomas D. Byrne, 36, of High Street, Lockport, was allowed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor Wednesday in a case originally described as a gunpoint robbery.

Assistant Public Defender Michele G. Bergevin said the victim in the Sept. 7 incident outside the Tops Market on South Transit Road in Lockport may not have been completely credible. As a result, Byrne admitted to petit larceny, agreed to repay $345, and was promised either probation or a conditional discharge when he is sentenced Aug. 12 by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.
