Event: Players Championship on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Thursday through Sunday.
TV: Thursday and Friday, 1-7 p.m., Golf Channel; Saturday and Sunday, 2-7 p.m., on NBC.
Last Year: Rickie Fowler authored probably the greatest finish in the history of the so-called “Fifth Major” when he played the last four holes of regulation in birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie to shoot 5-under-par 67 and get into a playoff with Kevin Kisner (69) and Spain’s Sergio Garcia (68). In a scheduled three-hole aggregate playoff on Nos. 16-17-18, Fowler and Kisner made birdies on the 17th, and Garcia, the 2008 Players champion, dropped out with three pars. So Fowler and Kisner went back to the 17th hole, where Fowler won by sinking a 5-foot birdie putt after Kisner missed his birdie attempt from 12 feet. Fowler played his last eight holes in 7 under par.
