Buffalo District Soccer League scores, Week 2

As you'd expect, Week 2 of the BDSL season offered its mild surprises. Here are the league-wide results from Mother's Day:

PREMIER DIVISION

BSC International 0, SoHo FC 0

Quick sum: Surprise result of the weekend, as Inter's defense stiffened and keeper Brian Arcara stopped his second penalty kick in as many games. SoHo may rue this memory later in the season as they flight for playoff positioning.

Rogue FC 3, Roos FC 0

Quick sum: Rogue continued its hot start to the season despite fielding only 11 players, as goalie Alex Bratos preserved the clean sheet and got help from Zack Schmidt, Joe Fischer and Zack Thomas on the score sheet.

BSC Raiders 4, Clarence 0

Quick sum: Another match, another comfortable win for Raiders. Four different players scored, including Kwadwo Asante's first of his BDSL career.

Amherst Sharpshooters 2, Celtic United 0

Quick sum: Counting the 0-0 friendly draw against Rochester River DogZ on Friday, Adam Durst has not conceded a goal in the last 270 minutes. Goals from Trevor Lawler and Regan Steele were enough against still-undermanned United.

Buffalo United SS 4, Yemen Elite 2

Quick sum: Times are tough for Elite, as BUSS rode a brace from former Daemen College striker Kyle Clifford in a game of bizarre bounces. For more info, read the game recap from the winners' perspective on the BDSL forum.

FC Yemen 1, Queenston FC 1

Quick sum: Queenston were enraged over a penalty kick call in the first half that saw FC Yemen go up 1-0, but Queenston equalized from Curtis Dorian to salvage a point.

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Rangers 5, Celtic Hoops 2

Quick sum: Dom Parisi upped his tally to five goals on the season after posting a hat-trick against Hoops, which started the game with eight guys.

East Aurora 6, Lakeside FC 1

Quick sum: East Aurora's offense is emphatically back on track after getting blanked in Week 1. Ryan Hunt -- an unusual name to see on the score sheet -- potted two goals in the rout.

Lykan FC 3, Buffalo Celtic 0

Quick sum: Lykan appears to be awakening after two very long seasons, improving to 2-0, without the services of injured Dan Matuszak for this latest win.

Wolfpack 1, OP Alliance 0

Quick sum: Considered preseason contenders, Orchard Park Alliance fall to 0-2 against physical, stingy Wolfpack.

Niagara FC 4, Polonia 2

Quick sum: Niagara's advantages in youth and speed paid dividends, as Grand Island HS star Garrett Robinson struck for a goal and an assist.

Buffalo Bantu 1, Southtowns FPFC 1

Quick sum: Both of these squads seem destined to play again later in the year in a do-or-die match-up.
