Shaken, stirred and everything else: Bartending for charity

We are always up for an event that combines a good drink with a good cause. Restaurants at the Walden Galleria will be hosting two bartending events for charity:

On May 9, Bar Louie will host its first “Bartenders Brawl.” We are pretty sure bartenders will not be jumping into a ring together like pro wrestlers (as much fun as that sounds), but instead whipping up cocktails for a cause.

Competing in four events, it will be Bar Louie vs. Bravo! vs. Cheesecake Factory vs. World of Beer vs. P.F. Changs. Categories include Best Original Cocktail, Speed of Service (three classic cocktails mixed the fastest and for taste), Fan Favorite (voted on by customers attending the event) and Bar Trivia. The fun begins at 8 p.m. There will be drink specials, beer and liquor tastings and prizes. Twenty percent of net sales will go to WNY Heroes, Inc. Supporting WNY Vets.

On June 7, Jack Astor’s Bar & Grill will host a bartending competition from 7 to 11 p.m. All funds will go for Women’s & Children’s Hospital. Here, Walden Galleria bartenders will pair up in teams to create specialty drinks and add "a flair routine" for the crowd. (We are hoping there are flames involved.) Also planned is an auction for items like rounds of golf and overnight stays. Donated prizes for guests to win like patio accessories, dinner certificates and jerseys.
