PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber defeated two Western New York standouts Wednesday to win the PBA50 Tour Mooresville Ford Open in North Carolina and collect the $7,500 top prize.
Weber defeated Jack Jurek of Lackawanna, 212-198, in the championship match of the stepladder final after a 266-206 win over Buffalo native Tom Baker of King, N.C.
Baker had qualified fifth. He defeated Robert Brown, 227-203, in the first match of the finals, then shot 279 to best a 257 by Sam Maccarone.
Jurek went 6-0 in the modified match play round to grab the No. 1 seed for the finals. He earned $4,000 for his finish.
