Buffalo BPM: Zomboy, Ghastly, Pete Bones among weekend shows

If you seek sounds similar to Skrillex, stop by Town Ballroom this week for a dubstep and bass heavy evening featuring Zomboy and Ghastly. Or if you may be looking for house and techno, and want a little taste of drum ’n’ bass, a slew of DJs will be found at the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center.

Zomboy, 8 p.m. May 5 in Town Ballroom (681 Main St.).

Zomboy will be stopping through Buffalo this week on tour for his “Neon Grave” EP. A dubstep artist, otherwise known as Joshua Mellody, is hailing from Guildford, Britain. Inspired by the works of Skrillex, he established himself as Zomboy in 2011 and developed into the mainline of the dubstep genre. Joining the tour will be Ghastly, sans moniker he is known as David Crow. This self-taught artist pulls his inspiration from various genres including death metal, ambient and experimental to develop his own sound. An Arizona native, he left home and moved to Venice Beach, Calif. in 2010. Starting from the bottom he built himself and his career and is now a full-time studio engineer with releases under Skrillex’s label OWSLA. Local support for this show will come from Dusty Bits, comprised by Jake Broffman and Ryan Sinatra.

This event is hosted by MNM Presents and will be for those 18 and older. Tickets are $23 and will be available at the door and can also be found online at townballroom.com.
