Olympian Anita Alvarez of Kenmore and Mariya Koroleva will perform a synchronized swimming duet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center. Alvarez, who competed for the Town of Tonawanda Aquettes before joining the U.S. National Team, and Koroleva will give previews of their Olympic routines this summer in Rio de Janeiro. There is no admission charge for the performance but donations will be accepted. An autograph and photo session will follow the show.
The performance is part of USA Synchro de Mayo, a month-long celebration of the sport, which will also include a performance at Asphalt Green’s AquaCenter in New York City on Saturday in which Alvarez and Koroleva will take part along with Olympians Kim Vandenberg and Jason Lezak.
