Lakewood man faces variety of charges after fleeing police

LAKEWOOD – A Lakewood man led police on a vehicle and foot chase late Monday afternoon after authorities from several law enforcement agencies tried to arrest him.

Dylan M. Abbey, 22, fled from police at a high speed but for a short distance, then got out of his vehicle and ran, according to authorities in Jamestown who had an arrest warrant.

Authorities from the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and state parole officers apprehended Abbey and charged him with three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a vehicle and resisting arrest.

The vehicle he was driving was stolen, so he also was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Other charges will be filed based on items found in the vehicle, authorities said.

After his arrest, several agencies executed a search warrant at 2291 Fairmount Ave., in the town of Busti. Additional charges are expected to be filed in the town at a later date based on the results of the search.

Abbey is being held without bail on the unspecified charge in the initial arrest warrant and is the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment for charges related to the pursuit.
