Authorities identify victim of fatal fall on Cattaraugus Reservation

Erie County sheriff’s officials on Monday identified the teenage girl who died early Sunday morning after falling off a 100-foot embankment into the Cattaraugus Creek ravine on the Cattaraugus Reservation.

The victim was 19-year-old Rikki George, a resident of the Seneca Nation of Indians reservation.

The sheriff’s office received the call at 4:37 a.m., about an individual who had fallen into the ravine. State Police troopers, Seneca Nation of Indians marshals and sheriff’s deputies arrived in the area of Bush Road and began searching the ravine. They located her and began administering CPR, but their efforts weren’t successful.

Authorities have said George apparently had been walking near the embankment in the area of Versailles Plank and Bush roads before the fall. Detectives are investigating the circumstances, including whether she was alone at the time.
