Thursday, 7 p.m.: Book launch for comic strip blogger and novelist Josh Fruhlinger, author of “The Enthusiast” (Topatoco Corp., 2016). Fruhlinger, a Buffalo native who now lives in Los Angeles, created “The Comics Curmudgeon,” a blog dedicated to analyzing and mocking newspaper comic strips in 2004. This is his first novel. Saturday, 3 to 6 p.m.: Reading to Benefit El Buen Amigo and the Latin American Cultural Association Non-profit hosted by poet Marek Phillip Parker. Saturday, 5 p.m.: Book launch and conversation with travel/adventure writer Ken Ilgunas, author of “Trespassing Across America: One Man’s Epic, Never-Done-Before (and Sort of Illegal) Hike Across the Heartland” (Blue Rider Press). The book recounts the author’s walk along the proposed path of the Keystone Oil Pipeline from the Alberta Tar Sands to Port Arthur, Texas, exploring the land and landscape and talking to the people who live and work there. Ilgunas, a Wheatfield native and University at Buffalo graduate, is also the author of “Walden on Wheels: On The Open Road from Debt to Freedom” (2013) and “The McCandless Mecca: A Pilgrimage to the Magic Bus of the Stampede Trail” (2013).
