A 22-foot dragon, the world’s loudest mobile musical instrument and problem-solving robots will be among the inventions on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday as the Buffalo Museum of Science hosts the Buffalo Mini Maker Faire, a celebration of creativity and the do-it-yourself spirit. It is included in museum admission.
The dragon was constructed by Lake Shore High School art students for a school production of the musical, “Shrek.” The Great American Horn Machine, fashioned from truck, train and ship air horns and steam whistles, is mounted on a car trailer and has required a special variance from the city’s noise ordinance. The robots include “Mindcub3r,” a Lego bot that can solve a Rubik’s Cube.
Also taking place Saturday will be the Official Museum of Science RC Car Demolition Derby, a workshop in which visitors can make their own take-home, non-mobile Box Bot; and a Take-It-Apart workshop sponsored by Sunnking, where guests can see what’s inside electronic equipment.
