Erie County sheriff investigating a death on the Cattaraugus Reservation

A teenaged girl died after falling off a 100-foot embankment very early Sunday morning on the Cattaraugus Reservation in southern Erie County.

Sheriff’s detectives were called to the scene to investigate what led to the fall.

The unidentified girl appeared to have been walking near the embankment in the area of Versailles Plank and Bush roads on the Seneca Nation Reservation before the fall, according to the Erie County sheriff department.

Deputies found the girl in the Cattaraugus Creek bed and tried to perform CPR, but the Sheriff’s Department said she already was deceased.
