Dunkirk firefighters rescue apartment resident from burning porch

DUNKIRK – Dunkirk firefighters Wednesday rescued the resident of an apartment who was attempting to flee a burning second-floor porch in a home at 39. N. Pangolin St.

The unidentified occupant was not injured in the blaze, which was reported to the Dunkirk Fire Department at 3:14 p.m. Upon their arrival, firefighters forced entry to the apartment and found the occupant attempting to escape the fire. Firefighters got the resident to safety and found the fire had spread to an interior wall.

The fire was quickly extinguished, minimizing damage.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Wednesday evening.
