Ira D. Karp, managed Rite Aid in Williamsville, avid fan of Sabres, Bills, Yankees

Aug. 3, 1964 – April 23, 2016

Ira David Karp of the Town of Tonawanda, a store manager for Rite Aid Pharmacy, died Saturday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a battle with cancer. He was 51.

Born in the Bronx, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from SUNY Buffalo State.

He became a manager at Rite Aid in 1995 and had managed the store on Main Street in Williamsville for the past 15 years.

Mr. Karp had an encyclopedic knowledge of sports and was an avid Bills, Sabres and Yankees fan. A league bowler, he was an animal lover and known for his hard work and his sense of humor and silly songs.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, the former Beth Ann Steiner; his father, Martin; and a brother, Robert.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lombardo Funeral Home, 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst.
