"Droll," one of the few alternative comedy showcases in Buffalo, returns to Milkie’s Elmwood Lounge (522 Elmwood Ave.) at 7 p.m. April 30.
During a "Droll" showcase, five comedians will perform a story, sketch, or character monologue around the theme, Exodus and the burning bush. The theme lends itself to talk of drugs, God or sex, or a combination of all three. Anything that one deems a burning bush or a metaphor can be used as a premise for a comedic bit. The format of the show isn’t just stand-up comedy, as by building it around a general theme, performers can challenge themselves with a new perspective around the theme.
The free show will feature Sean Marciniak, a local comedian, poet and actor; Andrea Singer, of Rochester; William A. Cragun II, Bruce Wilson and B.C. Garvey, who hosts the regular Gypsy Parlor Comedy Showcase.
