Lockport man charged with two robberies

LOCKPORT – Lockport police arrested a High Street man late Thursday night and charged him with two robberies, one of them allegedly committed at gunpoint.

Benjamin J. Fountain, 20, was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the alleged armed robbery on Harvey Avenue April 15. The victim in the case was an Oliver Street resident; no further information was made available.

Fountain is charged with third-degree robbery and petit larceny stemming from an April 13 incident outside the Kenan Arena on Beattie Avenue. A skateboarder said two males approached him and one of them punched him in the left eye, breaking his glasses and knocking him down.

The other man, whom the victim identified as Fountain, went through his pockets and stole a small fishing knife valued at $13. The victim gave a potential identification for the other suspect, who has not yet been charged.
