Falls motel owner indicted on stolen property charge

LOCKPORT – The owner of the Rainbow Motel in Niagara Falls was arraigned in Niagara County Court Friday on charges of stashing stolen ladders and other construction equipment on the premises.

Nasser J. Alkhatib, 50, of Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Falls, pleaded not guilty to a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Alkhatib was arrested in November after an investigation of the theft of ladders from a construction site a short distance from the Rainbow Motel, 7900 Niagara Falls Blvd. Assistant District Attorney John N. Philipps Jr. said the probe showed that Alkhatib allegedly had construction equipment that originally belonged to companies such as ABC Rental, LA Painting, M&M Electric and Frey Electric.
