NIAGARA FALLS — A former Town of Niagara resident was arrested Thursday after he allegedly kicked a cat in the face following a dispute with the cat’s owner.
Shane M. Hescox, 37, no permanent address, was arrested by Niagara Falls Police and Officer Lauren Zaninovich, of the Niagara County SPCA on a warrant for felony aggravated animal cruelty.
Hescox is accused of repeatedly kicking a domestic short hair tortoiseshell cat named Misty in the face last Friday at a Rhode Island Avenue address in the Town of Niagara, following a fight with cat’s owner. The incident was captured on a live feed camera, according to the report.
Misty suffered a broken jaw and several missing teeth. She remains in the owner’s care and is being treated at Gerber Small Animal Hospital, the SPCA reported.
“We take animal cruelty very seriously,” said Zaninovich in a report of the arrest. “The public needs to know that we will be there. We won’t stop until justice is served for defenseless animals.”
