Lockport plans yard waste pickup in third week of each month

LOCKPORT – City Clerk Richelle J. Pasceri announced Monday that city crews will collect yard waste in the third full week of each month from now through September.

The city will take brush and hedge trimming, tree prunings, thatch from lawn raking, old flowers and vegetable plants, leaves and mulch. However, fresh grass clippings will not be taken. Other unacceptable items include plastic, landscape timber, construction stone and pet waste.

The debris to be picked up must be placed either in plastic containers weighing less than 40 pounds, or in kraft paper bags. The material cannot simply be raked into the street, Pasceri said. Plastic bags are not allowed.

The pickups will occur on each street’s normal trash collection day.
