DWI, vehicular manslaughter charged in death of 88-year-old pedestrian

FRENCH CREEK – A French Creek man faces vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving charges in connection with the death of a pedestrian Sunday morning in Chautauqua County.

N.L. Lombardozzi, 25, is being held in the Chautauqua County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said Monday morning.

Lombardozzi is charged in the death of George H. Boozel, 88, of French Creek. Boozel was struck by Lombardozzi’s vehicle at about 8:20 a.m. as he was trying to cross the street in front of his home on Griffin Road, authorities said.

Boozel was killed upon impact.

Lombardozzi, also of Griffin Road, was driving northbound between Old and Mann roads at the time of the accident.
