Buffalo police fired shots at a man early Saturday while in pursuit in the city’s Bailey-Kensington neighborhood.

Officers tried to pull over a motorist traveling north on Bailey Avenue at a high rate of speed about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police reports.

The driver pulled into a driveway in the 200 block of Davidson Avenue, bailed from the vehicle, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the pursuing officers, police said.

One officer fired off two rounds, missing the man, who fled but was chased down in a nearby yard.

Kenneth E. Johnson, 34, of Longnecker Street, was charged with resisting arrest, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
