OSWALD - Richard C. "Oz" Long-time, Cat Ski Mt. Bailey
(Diamond Lake, Ore) lead-guide Rick "Oz" Oswald was involved in an
avalanche incident on March 22, 2016 while guiding clients on Mt. Bailey, the longest-operating cat skiing service in the continental United States. While performing avalache control-work he was caught in a slide and struck a tree, sustaining fatal injuries. Oz was a friend to all who met him and had guided on Mt. Bailey since 1981. He is survived by his wife, Tami Oswald, his son, and fellow guide, Ryan Oswald, his mother Helen Oswald, his father Heinrich Oswald, his brother Bob
Oswald, his aunt Lottie, his uncle
Herman and uncle Paul.
