Middleport police officer to be honored for saving man’s life

MIDDLEPORT – Sgt. Jeffrey Waters, a member of the Middleport Police Department for more than two decades, will be recognized for his service at the Middleport Village Board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Village Hall.

Waters responded to a call on Nov. 7 where a 50-year-old man visiting a Middleport home complained of chest pains and collapsed. Attempts at the scene to administer CPR were not successful but when Waters arrived, he quickly used an automated external defibrillator (AED) to successfully revive him, according to Middleport Police Chief John Swick.

Swick said police later learned that doctors believed Waters saved the man’s life.
