Letter: Independent voters being treated unfairly

Independent voters being treated unfairly

I just finished reading the paper about both party primaries. Independent voters are being intentionally kept from having their voices heard and their votes counted for the next president in our two-party system.

We in New York, as a class of citizens, are being deliberately and purposefully discriminated against because we believe both parties to be corrupt. Neither one represents our views. But shouldn’t we at least be allowed to vote for the candidate we find the least objectionable?

How is this practice allowed to stand in this state? Are we not citizens? Do we not pay taxes? Isn’t this the very reason our country was founded?

As an independent voter for over 25 years, this has bothered me every election cycle, but this is the first time I truly feel the burn and can only sit here and roast in my exasperation.
