Tonawanda woman charged with DWI on way to pick up her children

A Town of Tonawanda woman who had a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit told police she was on her way to pick up her children from school when she was involved in an accident Tuesday afternoon at Delaware and Kenmore avenues in the village.

Cara Toadvine, 38, who had a blood alcohol content that registered 0.37 percent, was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic infractions and then sent to Erie County Medical Center as a result of her extremely high blood alcohol content, police said.

Kenmore Police Officer Douglas Rich investigated the two-vehicle crash.

Toadvine is scheduled to appear May 10 in Kenmore Village Court.
