Another Queen City Pop-Up business is opening a permanent brick-and-mortar store.
Buffalo Barkery will open Friday in the Market Arcade, 617 Main St., in a space formerly occupied by Shakespeare in the Park. The 500-square-foot store specializes in handmade, small-batch dog treats using human-grade ingredients. Popular dog treat flavors include Beef on Weck, Chicken Wing and Buffalove Pumpkin. The store also sells cat treats, birthday cakes for pets and Buffalo-themed dog and cat toys and accessories.
Until now, Buffalo Barkery has done business online. It experimented with brick-and-mortar retailing during the last holiday season pop-up held at 50 Fountain Plaza.
Buffalo Urban Development Corp. started the Queen-City Pop-Up concept in 2014 as a way to attract more small businesses to downtown Buffalo. The program offers retailers rent-free space for a limited time. The next series will run May 5 through July 31 in a building at 517 Main St.
Other Queen City Pop-Up veterans have gone on to open permanent physical stores in downtown Buffalo, including Buffalo Adore, Rust Belt Love, Yar Mo’s Muse, MMW Style Studio and Rudeboyz Artworks.
