Niagara Falls Memorial workers agree to new contract

Members of the union representing more than 600 workers at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday voted to approve a new 3½-year contract, management and union officials announced Wednesday in a joint statement.

The collective bargaining agreement covers 620 service and maintenance workers, registered and licensed practical nurses, technicians, professional employees and other staffers and replaces an agreement that expired Dec. 7.

The deal includes pay raises that total 8 percent over the 3½-year contract along with pension improvements and clarification of some contract language, according to 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, which did not release a breakdown of the voting results.
