Moe’s Southwest Grill will open its eighth restaurant in the Buffalo Niagara region in Cheektowaga. It will be one of the first in the country to have a drive-thru.
The new store will be built at 3729 Union Road near Genesee Street. There is currently a two-story office building on the site which will be torn down to make way for the new restaurant. The company is in the process of securing permits with the town and expects to start demolition on the site within the next 30 days.
The 3,000-square-foot store will seat about 100 people.
Moe’s is testing the drive-thru concept in Buffalo and Jacksonville, Florida. Because Moe’s menu items are made to order, the drive-thru will have a touch screen where customers can customize their orders. Orders can be saved and recalled on each visit using a customer’s phone number or other identifier to expedite the ordering process.
Moe’s has locations in Orchard Park, Amherst, Depew, Williamsville and Angola as well as on Delaware Avenue and in the Student Union at the University at Buffalo North Campus.
