Lockport man headed for prison in knife case

LOCKPORT – Willie R. Bogar of Lockport, who got into a fight with two men at an apartment on Cottage Street in Lockport April 2, pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Bogar, 44, of Garden Street, was armed with a knife during the altercation. Defense attorney Brian J. Hutchison said it began when a landlord gave Bogar the wrong address for an apartment he wanted to rent, and Bogar found two men already living there. Hutchison said Bogar was punched, came back up the staircase and was kicked down the stairs on the second go-around. Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said Bogar was reportedly intoxicated at the time and was told to leave.

Caldwell is recommending a prison term of 1 1/2 to 3 years for Bogar when he is sentenced June 16 by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon for the knife and for two drug possession misdemeanors to which he pleaded guilty Feb. 25.
