Three weekend raids in Buffalo yield drugs, weapons and six arrests

Detectives in the Buffalo police Narcotics Squad seized drugs and numerous weapons and arrested six people over the weekend in a series of raids.

Three people were charged with marijuana and cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia after a raid at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Riley Street, the department said. Police seized more than $3,500 in cash during the raid, and a pit bull terrier was turned over to the city’s Animal Control Unit.

Arrested were Tracy D. Bankston, 49; Nichol M. Handmore, 38; and Jessica L. Martinez, 23, all of Buffalo.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police said, they recovered 25 bags of heroin at a home in the 100 block of Rother Avenue. Police said they charged Jose Lopez, 59, with drug possession after finding heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and pills.

Police seized 60 bags of heroin at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday during a raid on Warren Avenue. Detectives also recovered more than $4,200 in cash and a small amount of marijuana, cocaine, two handguns, a rifle and ammunition.

Arrested were Luis Matias, 25, and his wife, Kiramaitec Molina, 26. Matias and Molina face three felony weapons-possession counts and several drug charges, police said.
