United Way of Greater Niagara sets awards breakfast

CAMBRIA – The United Way of Greater Niagara will honor those who spearheaded last year’s fund drive at the organization’s annual breakfast at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Cambria Fire Company hall, 4631 Cambria-Wilson Road.

Honorees will include Christa Caldwell of Lockport, receiving the Norman Sinclair Humanitarian Award; Jeremy Mixon of the Niagara Hooker Employees Union at Occidental Chemical Corp., receiving the “Think Positive, Think United Way” Award; and Marc Papaj of Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel, the outstanding employee coordinator.

The Caring Cup will go to GM Component Holdings and United Auto Workers Local 686, and the Horizon Award will be presented to the Niagara Falls and Lewiston-Porter school districts and their teachers’ unions.

The President’s Award will go to Imerys Fused Minerals of Niagara Falls, and the Shining Star Award will be presented to Annemarie C. Bettino and Youth Mentoring Services in Niagara County. Outgoing board members Jeff Eddy and Richard Laskowski also will be recognized.
