Several streets in Clarence were closed to traffic on Sunday night and neighbors were asked to stay inside their homes as police responded to an Old Goodrich Road home for the report of a suicidal man.
Erie County sheriff’s deputies responded to the home at about 6:40 p.m. after concerned family members lost contact with the man “who had made alarming statements.”
Upon arrival at the home, deputies spoke with a family member. They determined it was not safe to approach the house, which led to neighbors being contacted and streets being closed.
After several attempts to reach the man by phone, he was reached by deputies and convinced to leave the house.
“Due to unknown facts, the sheriff’s office took extra precautions during this situation for the safety of the public and emergency responders,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
No charges were filed.
