Off-campus attack near Buffalo State leaves one student hospitalized

A SUNY Buffalo State student was taken to Erie County Medical Center early Friday morning for treatment of a large cut on his arm and bleeding apparently suffered in the aftermath of a large fight not far from the campus, Buffalo police reported.

The student, a resident of the college’s Neumann Hall, was struck with an unknown object wielded by an unidentified person on Parkdale Avenue, just south of Forest Avenue, near the campus, Northwest District police said. The victim also suffered a large gash after being struck in the back of the head during the attack, which occurred at about 3:50 a.m.

Police could not provide a description of the assailant, saying only that the assault occurred after a large fight. Officers were planning to reach out to at least three people identified as possible witnesses in the attack.
