Depew fire causes $450,000 in damages, leaves six homeless

Six people were displaced by a fire Friday afternoon that left $450,000 in damages to a mixed-use structure on Broadway in Depew, Depew police reported.

The fire broke out just before 3:30 p.m. at 5116 Broadway, a building that housed three apartments and the Calumet Hair Salon, which was vacant, police said.

The Red Cross was called in to provide emergency shelter to six apartment residents displaced by the blaze.

The building is under order for emergency demolition, police said.

The cause remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
