Sabres recall Williamsville's Schneider, Rodrigues for first time

For the first time in their careers, Williamsville's Cole Schneider and fellow Rochester forward Evan Rodrigues have made it to The Show.

The Sabres recalled the duo Thursday morning, putting the players in line to make their NHL debuts this weekend during Buffalo's final two games.

Schneider, whose family held Sabres season tickets, has 20 goals and 54 points in 69 games this season. Acquired from Ottawa in a minor-league deal in February, the 25-year-old has three goals and 12 points in 15 games with the Amerks. He is in his fifth professional season.

Rodrigues, a Boston University teammate of Jack Eichel, has nine goals and 28 points in 68 games. The 22-year-old winger is a first-year pro.

Buffalo hosts Columbus on Friday in First Niagara Center before closing the season Saturday at the New York Islanders.
